To this end, Jacoby Cameron Financial Services is committed to actively attending professional education programs to keep abreast of all the changes in the Australian Taxation System. We strive to improve our knowledge and expertise to ensure we excel in, and provide, the very best accounting, taxation and financial services.

The firm has a long history dating back to when Bernard Jacoby commenced practice in 1966. Bernie, having retired as a partner on 30 June 1995, continues his association with the firm as a consultant.

Partners

Grant Thomson – Partner – CA, B. Com.

Whilst Grant has experience and expertise in all areas of Accounting and Tax, he is also responsible for our Audit Division.

Grant commenced employment as an accountant in 1984 with Thomson Douglas & Co (now Grant Thornton) simultaneously beginning a part-time accounting degree at UNSW, he completed the degree in 1990. The ICAA Professional Year program was completed in 1995. Before joining Jacoby Cameron & Co in October 1993, Grant had worked for a number of accounting firms as well as being Group Accountant for Tankstream Brewing Company and financial accountant for Weldons. Became a partner at Jacoby Cameron & Co in July 2001.

Areas of specialisation include audit, assurance, management accounting and strategic planning.

Grant is a keen follower of motorsport, a member of the Art Gallery Society and regularly attends the theatre.

Michael Parker – Partner FCA, B. Arts

Became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1977. Commenced employment with Jacoby Cameron & Co. in 1984, having previously been employed as an audit manager at Hungerfords KMG (Now a part of KPMG). In July 1986, accepted an invitation to become a partner of the firm. Since that time has been involved with many of the firm's audits as well as the introduction of new taxes such as CGT, FBT, GST and changes to Superannuation legislation.

With his three children now with families of their own there is more time to devote to both competitive and pleasure sailing.

Martin White – Partner - CA, CFP®, FTIA, B. Com.

Martin joined Jacoby Cameron & Co as an undergraduate in 1998 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001. Since that time Martin has been involved with the Institute of Chartered Accountants post-graduate Chartered Accountants program as a workshop leader, exam paper author, technical adviser and marker.

Martin is also a Certified Financial Planner (widely regarded as the premier qualification for Financial Planners in Australia) and an Authorised Representative of Count Financial Limited. Martin became a partner on 1 July 2007. Whilst Martin has experience across such diverse areas as accounting, audit and tax he is also responsible for our financial planning division. In 2010 he was recognised by AFR Smartinvestor magazine as one of Australia’s top 50 financial planners.

Martin’s interests outside of work include swimming, water polo, sail boarding and sport in general.

James Dolahenty- Partner – CA, FTIA, B. Com.

Became a partner at Jacoby Cameron & Co in July 2009. James commenced his career in the accounting profession in 1998 and joined the firm as an employee in 2004. He has primarily been involved in small to medium enterprises which has provided diverse experience in accounting, audit and taxation matters for a range of clients including multi-nationals, non-profit organisations and sole traders.

James qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2006, is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and has also attained a Graduate Certificate in Financial Planning with FINSIA.

James shares his practical experiences by tutoring accountancy students at Macquarie University from time-to-time.

Outside of work James has taken a leadership role as Treasurer for his local soccer referees branch involving coordinating the payment of referees fees to 250+ members as well as refereeing several games each week during the season.
